Königsmühle, Meluzína and Karlovy Vary: a day of stories, mountain views and slow moments

Hidden among meadows and forests lies the abandoned village of Königsmühle – a place where history blends gently with nature. Once home to 57 people in 7 houses, the village was abandoned after 1945 and slowly disappeared. Today, only ruins remain, along with old apple trees and a quiet atmosphere that invites you to pause.

One of the stories that still lingers here is that of Rosemarie Ernst, the last living native of Königsmühle. Her childhood memories continue to inspire the annual Land Art festival, which brings the place back to life – for a few days each year – with poetry, installations, and silence.

Later, we’ll enjoy lunch in a beautiful natural setting at a charming local restaurant.

Next, we’ll climb to the summit of Meluzína (1,094 m) – one of the most scenic viewpoints in the Ore Mountains. The short hike rewards us with panoramic views of the Doupov Mountains, Klínovec, and the entire Ohře River valley. On a clear day, you can even see as far as the Bohemian Central Highlands. It’s no wonder Meluzína is considered one of the most photogenic peaks in western Bohemia.

After returning to the valley, we’ll head to the spa jewel of Karlovy Vary. There, we’ll enjoy a relaxed walk along the colonnade, browse local boutiques, taste regional delicacies, and enjoy a cup of great coffee in one of the elegant cafés.

Join us for a relaxed day filled with discovery, scenery, flavours and stories you’ll want to remember.
Out here, time slows down – and that’s exactly the point.
